Anybody who rents a Europcar electric vehicle in Spain from August 15 to October 15 will receive a free Electromaps RFID pass, so that they can activate public charge points with a single gesture at thousands of points throughout Europe, simply by bringing the key fob closer to the charger.
This synergy between Electromaps and Europcar aims at democratizing and promoting electric mobility, which is something that Spanish drivers are very much interested in. According to a study recently carried out by Europcar, 71% of those surveyed stated that they wanted their next rented or purchased car to be an electric or plug-in hybrid.
This action "represents an advance in electric mobility, since it will enable more people to experience an electric vehicle, especially the younger drivers who have not yet taken the leap. And we make sure that the experience is complete and very satisfactory. The new fleet of electric vehicles from Europcar is the best showcase and, together with the Electromaps app, it will be a perfect test for drivers to discover electric mobility, hands-on, in the short-term”, according to Maximilien Kauffmann, CEO of Electromaps.
Tobias Zisik, General Manager of Europcar Mobility Group Iberia, considers that "with more than 250,000 users and a network with more than 260,000 charging stations throughout Europe, Electromaps is one of the leaders within electric mobility services and will be a great source of information for our customers as they discover electric mobility”.
Europcar: an increasingly green fleet
The company has launched its "One sustainable fleet" program which has one main objective: “green” vehicles (those that emit less than 50 g of CO2/km) should represent at least 20% of the total fleet of cars and vans worldwide by the end of 2024.
Thanks to this commitment, the company has been the first mobility services company whose carbon reduction objectives have been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), the association promoted by the United Nations Global Compact”.
